Check this out!!!!

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. This is really snow!!! It has not snowed here in over 7 years. The baby even knew it was a treat. It only lasted a day, but the kids just loved it.

And yet another Creative Xpress project

Here is my second month's assignment from Creative Xpress. I had to make a weekly chore chart with the Cricut Magnetic material. I really like working with the magnetic and vinyl materials. There are so many applications here. I am becoming very dependent on not only my Cricut Expression, but with the Design Studio. So here is the final product. I can't wait to get it back because I am really going to use this.

Hope you enjoy it. And if you want the tutorial, just email me I will be glad to send it to you.

Another Creative Xpress Project

This is my second Creative Xpress project. This layout features the Tinkerbell and Friends Cricut cartridge and the felt spotted Doodlebug papers "La-di-dots". I just loved working with this paper. And with the Design Studio software I made my own scallopped edged paper.

This layout is of Charlotte's first birthday party. Don't you just love when they dig into the cake.

Thanks for looking!

Guess, where I have been?

Yes, my baby ended up in the hospital! She had been sick for almost a week and a half and felt so bad that she would not eat or drink. So she ended up in the hospital for dehydration. We only spent 24 hours there, but it was a long 24 hours. I was glad when the doctor said "I feel comfortable sending you home".
I mean really...I am a pediatric intensive care unit nurse. How did I let this happen? I tell ya', I think nurses either over react or under react when it comes to their families. I am so used to seeing extremely critical ill children that I did not think mine was that sick. I knew something needed to be done when my husband told me (while I was at work), "I changed 5 diapers on her today, but none were really wet". And combined with the fact that she is not eating or drinking I knew she was getting dehydrated. I called the doctor the next afternoon and told her that I could not get Charlotte to eat or drink and that she was not wetting diapers.
After some blood work in the doctor's office, she sent us to the emergency room to get IV fluids. Needless-to-say we ended up being admitted to the pediatric unit overnight.
I have to say, Charlotte did better than I thought she would. I had to chase her around the room with the IV pole though.
I am happy to report now, that she is back 100% and ready to go. Whew, let's just hope the next week is better.........

Fairy Fantasy Purse....

No longer a sneak peek, but a real one. Here is one of my first projects that I made for CreativeXpress. They are so awesome to work for. Anyway, I have altered an oval chipboard purse with the beautiful "La-di-dots" felt spotted papers from Doodlebug. I also cut the accents from the Serenade glittered spotted papers from Doodlebug. The cartridge that I used is the newly released Tinkerbell and Friends Cricut cartridge. I can see alot of these "girly" projects in my future. Having a girl is turning out to be a much different experience than boys. I love it! Enjoy the purse.

Click on the title to see more details photos of the purse.
And if you would like the tutorial, just ask and I will send it to you.
More coming soon.......

A Sneak peek........

This is just a peek. I can't post the entire project yet until CreativeXpress does, but here is a little look. This project is made with the newly released Tinkerbell and Friend Cricut Cartridge. The papers I used are from Doodlebug. They are the Serenade and La-di-dot cardstocks. Aren't they gorgeous?! Can't wait until I can show you the rest.

She liked the cake!

She liked the cake. And yes, I made it. It did look a little nicer, but there was an "incident" before the party and I had to make an emergent repair on the cake. We finally had Charlotte's one year birthday party. Hurrican Gustav pushed things back a bit. It is so fun to watch them dive into the cake. I am working on this layout now, but you will have to wait a bit to see it. It is for CreativeXpress and they have to show it first.
That's all for now.

She walks!

She took her "first steps" a couple of weeks ago, but now she is really getting brave. Oh boy, here we go. It is so fun to watch all of this again. She really is a joy. I tell ya' if adults learned as fast as infants maybe the world would be a better place (and have chocolate on every corner).

My first Cricut Project: Gift Box

This is my first Cricut project that I have made with my new Expression. I still can not believe that CreativeXpress has given me one. Anyway, here is the tutorial if you are interested (Click on the image to get a better view):

This box is on the Plantin SchoolBook cartridge. Looking on the keypad it is the second to last "white" key on the bottom row. This shape is made when the "Tall Ball" feature is used. The regular key with no feature cuts a rectangular box. I believe this is a 6 inch box. Press the cut button, peel up the box and then glue it together. Decorate at will.

The flowers and leaves are also from the Plantin SchoolBook cartride. I mixed the regular key with the "italic" key feature to make a couple of different styles of leaves and flowers. This project problably took 30 minutes to make. Simply because I was watching T.V. while I was gluing it together.

Supplies: Doodlebug Seranade Cardstock, Misc. cardstock, Cricut Expression, Plantin SchoolBook Cartridge, Doodlebug Sugar coated brads in Lily White.

Hope you enjoy the project. It is really is easy and fast.

Feeling Better.

Finally. Maybe it was not food poisoning since it lasted several days. But now the baby and Jake are sick with a runny nose and fever. Well I guess it is best that they all get sick at once.

And thanks for the comments. I let my son Cameron pick the winner and he pointed his finger at Library Bunny's comment. Congrats LB, your RAK will go out tomorrow.

Thanks for playing.

I want my mommy.........

So who takes care of "the mommy" when "the mommy" is sick? Uugghhhhhhhhh!!! I woke up at 2:30AM and 5:00AM throwing my guts up. Yuck! I am finally feeling a little better now (12 hours later). I think it may have been a little touch of food poisoning.

Note to self......wait at least a month before buying frozen food after a two week power outage after a hurricane. It turns out that Neil and I ate the same frozen food last night and he had a bit of "stomach distress" as well. We are wondering if these frozen sandwiches got thawed and refrozen after Hurrican Gustav. This could be a logical possibility. But, at least the kids did not get sick.

Hopefully I am over the worst of it. I actually have plans this weekend to go to a Scrap Pink crop. It looks like I am going to miss today, but there is still Saturday and most of Sunday left.

Coming soon, I will be posting my first Cricut project that I have made with my new Expression. I made it with the beautiful Doodlebug spot glittered papers. They are awesome.

And back to my original question, "Who takes care of "the mommy" when "the mommy" is sick? Post an answer by Sunday midnight and I will post a random rak winner.

I'm a ROCK STAR!!!!!!!!

Or at least I feel like one! Seriously, do you see the stuff that CX sent to me? I am still in awe about this whole thing. I am overwhelmed and I just hope that I don't disappoint them. I am so thrilled to be a part of the CreativeXpress design team.

My "initial" design team goodie box consisted of: the Cricut Expression, Design Studio, and the Essential tools kit. Really a very nice gesture. I am itching to get started.

So I guess this is what it feels like to be on a wonderful design team. I can't believe I finally made it. Thank you so much CX! You Rock!

The Loot!

Out of the Dark, into the light.....

FINALLY!! Whew, after 11 days and 4 hours without power, we finally have it back. And now we are trying to get life back to normal. After living in the heat for several days we finally broke down and bought a generator. So for three days after that we lived on air mattresses in the garage. It really was not too bad. After all the generator ran the TV that we moved into the garage. Then last Sunday my parents got their power back so.......we moved in with them for five days. Now we are back home and I am so thankful that it was not worse. And tomorrow the boys start school back again. Since our part of town was so damaged they ended up missing 9 days of school!!

And can you believe without all the modern conveinences of today that my boys actually played and GOT ALONG!!!

PROOF, that they really DON'T NEED Power..

A Quick Update.........

Hurrican Gustav has come and gone, but.........he left a war zone in his path.

It seems in my part of town I will not have power until October. So, the family and I have temporarily relocated to my parents house. They do have power and internet. I will be around some, but since this is not my computer I will not be here quite as much as I like. Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers. My house is basically undamaged, but there are 5-6 houses on my street that have trees on them. Big oak and pecan trees. So we are fortunate. However, the downed big trees are ontop of power lines which are attached to broken telephone poles. So it may be a while before we get things back to "normal". We are okay though. Glad to be back to "civilization"!

Same Song, Different Dance..

Or is it the other way around? I don't know.

Well, here we go AGAIN.... We are preparing for a major hurricane here in the south. The gulf coast is evacuating today. So, with Neil working at the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and me working at one of the local hospitals we will be quite busy for the next couple of weeks. And the kids are now out of school until at least Thursday. They are excited, but without power I don't know how long that excitement will last. We will see how it goes. At least this time around it seems everyone is more prepared.

On another HAPPY note, have I said lately how excited I am about being on the 2008-2009 Creative Express design team. I still can not believe it. When things settle here I will post all of the CX girls links so you can see their beautiful work. I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful team. Here are their names:

Beautiful Baby Girl

Not ready yet.......

So today, I was suppossed to put my baby into Mother's Day out at a local church. Well I have decided that I am not quite ready yet. Why is that? Perhaps it is because she is "the baby". Maybe I am afraid that her affection for me might be (partially) replaced by someone else. Why is it so hard for mother's to let go? If you figure that out, let me know. So we will go fill out the paper work at least and drop off the shot record and try again next week. At least that is what I told them this morning. Sigh......why do they grow up so fast? With that I will leave you with a layout of her that I did with one of my favorite scrapbook lines: Fancy Pants. Love them!

Organized Chaos

That is what my life feels like sometimes. That is what it is. IF only we did not need sleep, I could get so much accomplished. Well what is that saying "You can get enough sleep when you die". Hopefully that day is very far off, but for now 6 hours a night would be great.

So amongst the chaos I have found (made) the time to create a blog. So if you are interested you can read about my life. Kids, work, husband, scrapbook pages and all. If you know me at all then you know the later is a big obsession of mine. The chaos of my life is recorded on pages with stickers, buttons and what nots. I love it all.

So let me put out the welcome mat and put the coffee on. That is what we call "Southern Hospitality" here in the south.....
